The day you lose your job the very first thing you must think is how you can save as much money as possible in the following months. You will never know how long you are going to be unemployed and for that reason it is of uttermost importance that you learn how to manage with your lowering income, and for that you will have to learn not to spend as much.
Money is not going to come around like it does when you are working. I see a lot of people still thinking that they can as much as usual, and when I ask them why do they think that the answer is simple. "I am going to find a new job soon". The problem is that most of them don't and while they fail to understand this they are speding their savings and maxing their credit cards , and before they know it they are in real financial trouble. Saving money is important when you are working - at this time you are going to put money away for a rainy day. This means that you will save money in your bank account, or on a savings account, buy stocks or put them in a fund. But the key is to not use all your money just before you get your salary once again, but to be able to live without the pressure of not being able to make it if something happens to your income. When you are trying to save money while you don't have a job, it means that you will have to cut down on all your expenses and if you really have to, you could dig up those savings from the backyard and use them for NECESSARY things. This does not mean that you can go and buy a new car if you feel like it, but it means that if your child has the swine influenza you will have some money to treat the kid correctly. Savings are for emergencies, and for days when you really can't make it without them. Don't spend them on luxury items like cable TV or eating out.
Many people don't really understand that if they lose their job, they were not meant for it in the first place. That is something that mothers say to people who do not succeed at what they try and to be honest - it is true. The reason you lost your job is most likely because of the fact that you were not doing it as well as the other people there - you should try something else. Also there is the problem that today the world is at a financial chrisis - this will result in a lot of reductions in the amount of employers. Even the largest companies that are on a steady financial balance, have had to fire people like there is no tomorroe.
You should not get depressed if you do lose your job, since you can always find a better one. These days it might be hard, but if you are really good at something , there will always be a job ready for you and waiting for that perfect person to apply for it. Getting depressed about the reality is just something that will lead to nothing - if you want to succeed you need to pick yourself up and go to the unemployment office to find a new job. If you think that it is hard to find a new job that you have been educated for, then try something else. You don't need to do that for the rest of your life, and when the situation at the job markets gets better, you can get out and find a new job. Unemployment is something that really makes life difficult - we are all used to going to work every day, and our days seem to lose the structure when you don't have to leave. The trick here is to keep yourself active, and if you are in trouble financially, you should spend that time trying to figure out ways to save money. Cut down your living expensies as much as you can, and at the same time do everything you can to find a new job.
